Environment North Carolina Staff
Shelley Vinyard is the Regional Director for Environment North Carolina. Shelley is working to win protections for open spaces, and expand clean energy development. She started in 2008 as an Environment America Fellow as the State Associate for Environment Michigan. In the fellowship, she helped convince a majority of Michigan’s Congressional delegation to support a cap on global warming pollution, and worked to better protect the Great Lakes. After graduating the Fellowship, she was the Federal Toxics Advocate for Environment America—winning the first ever national limits on mercury pollution from power plants; and then became the Federal Clean Water Advocate, where she helped to build support for restoring Clean Water Act protections for rivers and streams across the country. She received a B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin.
