Raleigh, NC- With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Environment North Carolina Research and Policy Center released the Top Ten Reasons why millions of Americans love to visit North Carolina’s coasts each year. The factsheet comes as more and more coastal communities take a stand against offshore drilling off North Carolina’s shores.
Tyson Foods, Inc. is “one of the world’s largest producers of meat and poultry.” The company’s pollution footprint includes manure from its contract growers’ factory farm operations, fertilizer runoff from grain grown to feed the livestock it brings to market as meat, and waste from its processing plants.
Raleigh, NC- Today, advocates and activists in favor of clean beaches voiced their opposition to offshore drilling at the Atlantic Drilling Forum hosted by the Consumer Energy Alliance, a pro-drilling group. This forum comes as the Obama Administration finalizes the second draft of the next 5 year offshore drilling plan.
RALEIGH – More than 16,000 North Carolina citizens have spoken out against Gov. Pat McCrory’s response to the federal Clean Power Plan, the first-ever plan to reduce carbon pollution from power plants, before the public comment period closes today.
Due to overwhelming public support, the Clean Water Rule has now withstood every attack that polluters could muster in Congress - the Barrasso bill, the CRA measure, and now an attempted budget rider. Polluters and their allies have played all their dirty water cards in Congress and lost.
